A Read-a-thon!

11:15 am .

We have an awesome homeschool group at our library! A few weeks ago our lesson was about disabilities. We learned about a few of the different kinds of disabilities people have. We tried tying shoes with a blindfold on. We read a book called, Zoom. It’s about a girl who got a new wheelchair that was so fast that she got a speeding ticket! And we got to try a wheelchair! It was hard!

As a group, we decided that we want to help someone get a wheelchair. We know that we are all really good at reading, so we’re doing a read-a-thon. Our family’s idea is to ask you choose one of our 4 readers and pledge to donate any amount of money you want for every book they read. Starting on October 15th, we will read like maniacs! Everyday, we’ll keep track of how many books we read and on October 31st we’ll announce the grand total and you can figure out how much money you need to donate. The money will be due to us by November 4th. All the money will be donated to LDS Philanthropies to get someone a wheelchair.

1. Fill out the form below (if the embedded form isn’t working, here’s a link –> http://goo.gl/forms/r3bNhvazCF)

2. Watch this blog for our daily updates, book counts, and maybe some fun contests 😉

3. Watch for the Grand Total announcement on October 31st (Halloween! YAY!) On that day, you can find your reader’s Grand Total and multiply it by your pledge amount.

4. Send us your donation by Nov. 4th. We can accept your donation in any way you can get it to us.

Answers

Yes, even the kids who can’t read yet are listed as readers. They want to be involved. The books that are read to them will be counted for the listener only so we don’t double count books.

We will accept the donation in any way you can get it to us by the due date (Nov. 4) Cash, check, PayPal, WingCash, ect.  It’s all good! Send me an email at jenni@willowrise.com if you need additional information for this. You can even donate it straight to LDS Philanthropies if you want.

This is a no-pressure fundraiser. We will not be hounding you for payment.

We decided to ask for pledges by the book rather than by the page or by word count because we read a TON!

If the answer you’re looking for isn’t here, send me an email at jenni@willowrise.com
